Community Networks works to ensure the Community Development and Social Needs of the Upper Clutha Region are met
A one-stop shop fostering community and social development in the Upper Clutha region. Information and advice, community social work and the satellite office for numerous statutory organisations.
Volunteers are required to meet & greet clients, answer phone calls, give out information, take bookings for clinics (IRD, JP service, Community Law), take room bookings, bookings for Wheels to Dunstan shuttle, update statistics, do other clerical tasks as requested, help keeping reception tidy and forms stocked up.
2 hours initial training plus time to shadow other reception staff. Shifts are then scheduled for 2 – 3 hours a week, plus cover when required.
Located in Wanaka
A professional image and the ability to work unsupervised. An ability to communicate with clients, simply, clearly and with patience. Knowledge and interest in the local community as well as an understanding of government departments and who does what for whom! Volunteers should also be prepared to build up their knowledge over time. A sense of humour. The ability to deal with many different types of people. A high level of honesty and confidentiality. IT and organisational skills essential.
Volunteers gain satisfaction from working as part of a great team of staff and volunteers. A wide range of office based skills can be gained as well as developing knowledge of the community and support services available.
