Fundraising - General Assistance - Pink Ribbon Street Appeal Area Coordinator

Organisation Summary:

Our mission is to stop New Zealanders developing and dying from breast cancer and supporting those who already have the disease. The challenge is still enormous and we are grateful for our volunteers help to enable our work – through life saving early detection campaigns, research into better treatments and support for women with the disease. Our annual national street appeal - the Pink Ribbon Street Appeal involves 10,000 volunteers and 1,000 collection sites. We also require Area Coordinators to run each area - every year we need approximately 340 area coordinators to manage the appeal in their area.

Tasks & time Commitment:

Breast Cancer Foundation NZ are seeking expressions of interest from all over New Zealand from those who would like to become an Area-Coordinator for their town/suburb. Our annual Street Appeal is on Friday 11th and Saturday 12th of October 2019 so interested persons need to be available for one or both of these days and for some preparation beforehand in the lead up to the event.

 

As an Area Coordinator you will oversee multiple sites and manage a small team of volunteers. Breast Cancer Foundation NZ promotes the day and helps to find volunteers but it also involves some recruitment from your networks. You will also receive and distribute stock to the volunteers and trouble shoot any issues on the day if these should arise. You would also need to bank the funds donated. We provide everything that is required to be an Area Coordinator including a detailed brief beforehand, support throughout the appeal, a roster system on which volunteers can register themselves, stock, banking materials and collection permits.

Skills Required:

To be a volunteer we would love you to have great leadership, organisational and communication skills as well as being enthusiastic and passionate about the cause!

A drivers Licence is usually required.

Skills Gained:

A detailed brief will be sent before the street appeal via email and help is available both in the months leading up to the appeal and on the appeal day.

We hope volunteers will enjoy their involvement with the appeal and gain huge satisfaction from raising funds and awareness for the annual appeal. Volunteers may also develop their leadership skills, confidence and enjoy meeting new people. 

As a volunteer, with your help, we'll be on the streets of New Zealand raising money for breast cancer.
