Boards/Committees - Treasurer

Organisation Summary:

Wanaka Toy Library is open to the community and has toys and equipment for children aged 0-6 years. They have over 800 toys available so there is always something new for kids to borrow and play with.

The committee is run by a dedicated team of volunteers and are supported by its members who assist with duties in the library itself. 


A treasurer is being sought to carry out the following roles: 

• Check treasurer gmail and deal with emails as required
• Upload staff hours to payroll
• Manage invoices and reimbursements to be paid - ensure these are minuted at committee meetings and payment is set up on internet banking after meeting
• Prepare monthly treasurer report for committee meeting, including comment on cashflow and suggestions as required
• Maintain financial records for EOFY
• Liaise with accountant to ensure financial statements are completed in a timely manner
• Prepare a budget for financial year / calendar year, liaising with fundraising and grants committee members to identify sources of revenue
• Securely maintain a list of logons and passwords for IRD, payroll etc, to be accessed by other committee members in event of emergency, or for handover to next treasurer
• Change passwords and update list as required

Located in Wanaka.

Time Committment:

Meetings take place monthly and last for around an hour and a half. Some preparation time is required and planning for key events.

Skills Required:

The Treasurer should be be knowledgeable about simple accounting procedures and methods for budgeting the society's funds for the given year. They should also be trustworthy, able to work to deadlines and work as part of a team. 

Skills Gained:

Volunteers will be able to develop their knowledge of how committees are run and to develop their own skills in financial management within a non profit organisation. It is also a great way to meet new people and gain satisfaction from contributing to the small organisating team that ensure the Wanaka Toy Library can be enjoyed but the childen whose parents are members.
