Visitor / Companion - Social Centre Volunteers
The aim of our organisation is to provide social support and advocacy to all members of the club, membership to the club is open to all men and women aged from 60 years who live in the Upper Clutha District.
Social support is defined as social entertainment, friendship and companionship, we provide meetings and day trips for the members. We also have a weekly exercise class.
Volunteers assist with arranging the room for the meeting which involves shifting furniture and returning it at the end of each session. Volunteers also assist with the preparation and serving of afternoon tea and any small tasks the coordinator requires.
Social meetings are held on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month between 1.30-4pm. Volunteers should be available between 1.30pm and 4pm.
Located at the Wanaka Presbyterian Church.
Volunteers should have an interest in older people and feel happy chatting to and assisting with their needs both at the social meetings and when going out.
Volunteers ideally should be able to assist with moving furniture and understand food handling.
It is hoped volunteers will feel a valued member of the team, will enjoy getting to know the other volunteers and will gain satisfaction from enabling senior citizens to join others and have fun. You may also gain an insight into supporting older people.
