Business Mentor for the Integrated Women’s Entrepreneurship Project

S.U.C.C.E.S.S. is a multicultural, multi-service agency assisting people at all stages of their Canadian experience.

The Integrated Women’s Entrepreneurship Project (IWEP) is a multi-regional program that sets out to support and empower women entrepreneurs who are looking to start a business and expand their business by providing them with a wide range of resources, tools, advisory and trainings to succeed.

We are currently recruiting volunteers to join our IWEP as Business Mentors. To apply for this position, you need to have minimum 2 years of professional experience in Canada and in total minimum 3 years of business experience.

The Business Mentor for IWEP is a critical member of the team in empowering and influencing new, up and coming entrepreneurs. As a Business Mentor, you will take part in our virtual mentoring sessions or networking events and guide our budding entrepreneurs who are looking to start or expand their businesses.

Business Mentor Duties:

  • Take part in virtual mentoring sessions with project clients to discuss their business ideas, goals, and challenges.
  • Support entrepreneurs in identifying and overcoming challenges or obstacles they face in their businesses.
  • Offer guidance on any one or more of the followings: financial planning, marketing, business development or other relevant areas to ensure the sustainability of their ventures.
  • Provide constructive feedback to entrepreneurs, helping them continuously improve their business operations.
  • Successful candidates will be contacted and required to submit a current Criminal Record Check upon offer of the mentorship position.

Volunteer Business Mentors are a critical part of the IWEP. By volunteering as a mentor, you can contribute to the community and make a positive impact on the lives of aspiring women entrepreneurs, and at the same time to enhance your own leadership, communication, and coaching skills.

To be successful as a Business Mentor, you should have:

  • Criminal Record Check completed
  • Extensive experience in business operations/ particular industry or sector
  • Ability to guide women entrepreneurs in overcoming challenges that they may face in starting and expanding their business 
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills

Volunteers interested in this role shall provide resume to help establish better mentorship engagement.

Training and orientation provided:

  • Orientation provided by project staff
  • Ongoing support for mentor-mentee meeting facilitation as needed

Time and place for work:

  • 4 hours per month (Monday to Friday between 9am and 5pm), virtually

Commitment Required:

  • We request your commitment for at least 1 year. Your engagement can be extended thereafter.
