Active Volunteer Positions - Digital Literacy Workshop Assistant-Vancouver Service Centres

We are one of the largest non-profit social service organizations in BC, providing services for immigrants, seniors and housing. S.U.C.C.E.S.S. has evolved into a multicultural, multi-service agency assisting people at all stages of their Canadian experience. The Immigrant Settlement & Integration Program (ISIP) helps immigrants, and their families to learn about Canada's systems and services. We offer opportunities for immigrants to develop English language skills, learn about Canada's labour market, network, and develop professional and social networks, and settle into their local B.C. communities. ISIP services are for eligible immigrants, refugees and their families and are free of charge. Our services are offered in many languages.
We are recruiting volunteers to support our Digital Literacy workshops facilitated by our Digital Navigator.
Location:
In person at our Vancouver Centres and online. Details to be confirmed by the Digital Navigator and/or Community Connections Coordinator.
Key responsibilities:
● Supports the Digital Navigator via various formats, such as in-person workshops and online webinar settings
● Supports the Digital Navigator to facilitate digital literacy skills learning and comfort level among clients using different applications (e.g. using Zoom, email, google maps, internet browsers)
● Provides one-to-one help for digital literacy workshop/webinar clients who require extra support
● Provides informal first language interpretation support as needed
Time commitment and schedule:
To be discussed with the Digital Navigator and/or Community Connections Coordinator.
Qualifications Required:
● Intermediate level of English (CLB 4/5)
● High Proficiency in a second language (in particular Arabic, Chinese (Cantonese/Mandarin), Dari, Farsi (Persian), Japanese, Korean, Pashto, or Ukrainian)
● Experience providing informal interpretation an asset
● 19 years or older
● Must be willing to conduct a criminal record check
● Excellent digital literacy using different computer platforms (Windows/Mac) and phone platform (iPhone/Android)
● Excellent technical skills (operating different applications and troubleshooting technical issues)

● Specific orientation to the Digital Literacy Workshop Assistant Volunteer Position

Supervision:
● This position will be supervised by a S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Immigrant Settlement and Integration, Digital Navigator with volunteer management support from the Community Connections Coordinator as needed
