Active Positions - Volunteer callers needed
Do you want to support a senior in your community?
We are currently recruiting friendly and patient volunteers to provide companionship and support to seniors in the community. This program is designed to help seniors to remain active, engaged, and independent by providing them with friendly visit services.
Key Responsibilities
The Program matches seniors with volunteers for weekly check-ins and taking grocery orders. The goal is to improve seniors’ quality of life, assist them to stay independent, and increase their self-confidence. Activities typically include:
- Building and fostering a supportive relationship
- Provide weekly phone check-ins to seniors in need of grocery delivery services
- Maintain accurate record of grocery items needed by the seniors
- Logging volunteer hours in Better Impact
- Contacting program staff with any concerns about the client
Work Location
Vancouver/ Remote
Time Commitment and Schedule
- Call 3-4 seniors per week to take grocery orders. Each order takes 15-30 mins.
- 3-6 month minimum commitment preferred
Qualifications
- Age 19 years or older
- Intermediate English or above
- Additional languages: Cantonese and Mandarin are an asset
- Training and/or experience supporting seniors and/or person with disabilities (an asset)
- Training and/or experience in counselling (an asset)
- Available to attend and complete volunteer orientation and training sessions
- Clear Criminal Record Check

- General orientation to S.U.C.C.E.S.S
- Specific orientation and training for the volunteer position

Supervision
This position will be supervised by the Senior Services Coordinator.
