BC Newcomer Services Program

S.U.C.C.E.S.S. BC Newcomer Services Program (BCNSP) is looking for volunteers who can speak Farsi to support the BCNSP team in communicating with Farsi-speaking clients. This role reports to the BCNSP Program Coordinator in Coquitlam.

BCNSP is a settlement service delivered by S.U.C.C.E.S.S. to support temporary residents and naturalized citizens with information, referrals, and resources to settle and integrate into the community. By removing language barriers, BCNSP clients can integrate better into everyday life.

Duties and Responsibilities 

• Return client calls and determine if clients are eligible for BCNSP services
• Schedule appointments with BCNSP staff
• Provide information to clients on their appointment and what they will need to prepare for the meeting
• Maintain a waiting list

Qualifications and Requirements

• Excellent customer service skills over the phone
• Fluent in Farsi
• Friendly and a non-judgmental listener
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and overall computer skills
• Knowledge in local settlement and employment resources and government benefits an asset
• Criminal Record Check Completed

Training and orientation provided

• Training will be provided upon onboarding
• Ongoing support and training will be provided as needed

Commitment and location of work

• 2058 - 1163 Pinetree Way, Coquitlam (SUCCESS Tri-cities service Centre at Henderson mall)
• 1-2 shifts per week on Mondays, Wednesdays, and/or Thursdays.
• Each shift is 2-3 hours between 9am and 5pm
• Commitment: ideally a minimum of 2 months
