Volunteer Position: Front Desk Assistant

S.U.C.C.E.S.S. is one of the largest social service agencies in British Columbia, Canada. S.U.C.C.E.S.S. has evolved into a multicultural, multi-service agency assisting people at all stages of their Canadian experience.
 
The Immigrant Settlement & Integration Program (ISIP) helps immigrants and their families learn about Canada's systems and services. We offer opportunities for immigrants to develop English language skills, learn about Canada's labour market, develop professional and social networks, and settle into their local B.C. communities. ISIP services are for eligible immigrants, refugees and their families and are free of charge. Our services are offered in many languages. 

Work location: S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Burnaby Service Centre, #200-5172 Kingsway Street, Burnaby, BC  V5H 2E8

Key Responsibilities:

  • Greeting walk-in clients
  • Answering phones
  • Communicating with clients in their first language (Mandarin, Tagalog, Persian, Korean currently needed)
  • Helping clients make appointments with staff and register for workshops, classes or events
  • Promoting programs and services
  • Assisting Program Assistants with administrative tasks when needed.

Time Commitment and Schedule: 4 hrs per week, 3+ months

Date/Time of the Volunteer Shifts:

  • Monday – Friday (9 am to 1 pm)  (1 pm to 5 pm)
  • Saturdays (9 am to 1 pm) 

Qualifications Required:

  • Intermediate level of English or above
  • Ability to speak another language is an asset
  • Criminal record check clearance (may take up to 4 weeks)
  • Customer service skills
  • 19 years or older

  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Friendly and welcoming

Orientation and Training Provided:

  • General orientation to S.U.C.C.E.S.S.
  • Specific orientation to the volunteer position
