POSITION TITLE: Youth Program Assistant (After School Program):    

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: After School Program Teachers then Program Manager

DEPARTMENT: Community Center

POSITION SUMMARY: Under the guidance of the Community Center Program Director the Program Assistant will assist staff to lead and supervise all programming (After School, Tutoring and Recreation).

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Include, but are not limited to, the following:

Assist staff with daily programs (After School, Tutoring and Recreation))

Maintain active involvement with participants

Communicate in a positive, appropriate manner with other staff, youth, parents/guardians

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of 18 years of age

Experience in teaching, tutoring or youth development preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Effectively work cooperatively with others

Establish and maintain professional boundaries with youth, volunteers and staff

Ability to work with sensitivity and without discrimination toward people of diverse cultures, race/ethnicities, socio-economic positions, ages, religions, genders, physical or mental challenges or disabilities and sexual orientations.

Behave ethically and consistently with the values of The Salvation Army.
