Distribution Center Feed The Kids Program - 2024 Feed The Kids

Feed the Kids is a summer meal program designed to meet the needs of children in Milwaukee's neighborhoods with the greatest needs.  The Salvation Army vans bring lunch meals to neighborhoods,  to serve an average of 1,700 lunches each day, Monday - Friday during the summer.

The meal assembly for the Feed the Kids program is completely volunteer supported. Twenty-two volunteers are needed Monday - Friday from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. (or until meal assembly is completed).  Volunteers under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.  Groups of teens or children require one adult per every four children.  Youth under age 18 are required to have parental consent to volunteer for the Feed the Kids program.  This form is available here:  Parental Consent Form  Please bring the completed form with you when you volunteer, If you're a leader of a volunteer group, to ensure that the group is able to volunteer together we must first confirm with you if the requested shift and date is available.  For this reason please contact Nettie at Volunteer Services to discuss this process.

Duties include:  Meal preparation, assembly, light clean-up and room set-up for the next day.

Volunteers must be able to communicate orally, understand and follow directions and be able to accomplish assigned tasks.  Meal assembly requires working together as a team.  Volunteers must maintain proper hygiene in keeping with health and safety guidelines for food preparation.  Volunteers are asked to wear suitable and comfortable clothing, including closed toe shoes (no sandals or flip-flops).

This volunteer opportunity takes place at the Distribution Center, located at 5880 N. 60 Street.
