The Salvation Army - Racine

Social Services - Healthy Kids Diner Service Volunteer

Healthy Kids Diner Service Volunteer

The Healthy Kids Diner operates all year long, Monday – Friday, except for holidays, providing nutritious meals for children at four COP houses locally.

Service Volunteers would arrive at The Salvation Army at 2:45 PM and be prepared to donate about 3 hours of service time.  Volunteers may ride in the van with Salvation Army staff to the COP Houses or may drive themselves and meet at the COP Houses. Meals are premade and packaged at The Salvation Army and distributed to 1-200 children each evening at the sites.

Volunteers will transport food service containers, give assistance to the Salvation Army staff, help serve the children, and clean-up after the meal service. The children will be expected to eat the meal at the site, whether outside via picnic tables and blankets, or indoors.  As the weather changes, the children will move inside the COP House to eat their meal.

Once the meal is done, staff and volunteers then head to the second location and repeat the process at a second site.

If you find this opportunity speaks to your call for service to your community, there is ample opportunity to volunteer on a regular basis.
