Community and Regional Offices - Community / Branch Office Assistant - Kamloops



As a frontline representative of the Canadian Cancer Society, the Community Office Assistant provides a welcoming environment for the community to access cancer-related information and services.  By providing staff, volunteers, donors, and other stakeholders with excellent customer service, the Community Office Assistant helps keep the day-to-day operations of the office moving forward and enhances the community’s participation in the Society’s services, programs, and events.

  • Respond to telephone calls, emails, and walk-in inquiries with professionalism, patience, and kindness
  • Keep up-to-date on Society activities, programs, policies and procedures, and participate in ongoing training
  • Receive and help process donation in a confidential manner and with care
  • Provide administrative support for projects and special events
  • Be an Ambassador for the Canadian Cancer Society



  • Help people affected by cancer access information and resources in a warm and supportive atmosphere
  • Enhance customer service, administrative, and teamwork skills
  • Interact with the community as an advocate for the Canadian Cancer Society
  • Network with a team of staff and volunteers who are passionate about supporting those living with cancer and changing the future of cancer in a non-profit office environment

  • Role-specific training, with ongoing mentorship and support from the Leadership Volunteers and Regional Staff
  • The Canadian Cancer Society Volunteer Handbook, policies, and procedures



  • Knowledge of the Canadian Cancer Society’s mission, programs, and services (or willingness to learn)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Ability to connect with a variety of people and handle sensitive topics with kindness and patience
  • Positive and solution-oriented attitude, comfortable with adapting to change
  • Intermediate computer knowledge (including Microsoft Word and Excel)



  • Call about shift options - Monday to Friday
  • Prefer 4-6 months commitment (for training purpose), renewable
