Internships - Undergraduate Internship - Child Welfare & Mental Health

Undergraduate internship positions at St. Vincent's Villa, Villa Maria School, and Villa Maria Behavioral Health in psychology, social work, human services, special education, or related fields. Internships are unpaid and available to students enrolled in undergraduate studies. Since our internships are relationship-based, field placements tend to require 120 hours of direct service per semester, with a minimum of 100 hours to qualify. 

Application deadlines:

  • Summer - April 1
  • Fall - July 1
  • Spring - November 1

Internship offers are contingent upon the successful completion of all screening measures, which include interview, background checks, health screening, seasonal flu shot. Training includes two, mandatory, 2-hour, live sessions: Pre-Service Training and Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) Overview. 

Qualifications Required

  • Interview Must be Complete
  • Reference check Must be at least 2 clear
  • Tuberculosis risk screening Must be at least Employee file at HR
  • Influenza Vaccination Must be at least Temporary seasonal exemption (May 15-Nov. 1)
  • Child Protective Services check Must be at least Employee file at HR
  • Sterling Volunteers Criminal Background Check Must be at least Employee file at HR
  • Policy forms Must be at least Completed
  • Media Release Must be at least Consented
  • Pre-Service Training (2 hr. training) Must be at least Completed PST
