Family Services is a division of Catholic Charities of Baltimore, which includes nearly half of the agency's 80 programs. This hub covers volunteering opportunities for our child welfare, behavioral health, and violence prevention programs, including St. Vincent's Villa, Safe Streets, and the Villa Maria programs.
Administrative & Operations Support - Villa Maria Nature Trail Clean Up
Want to spend some time in the woods with friends, family, or coworkers?
Help us maintain our beautiful Villa Maria Nature Trail, located directly behind Villa Maria School of Dulaney Valley and the former Villa Maria building. The trail offers educational and therapeutic opportunities to children with emotional and behavioral disabilities.
Volunteers can help on one of our semi-annual Clean Up Days and we can also schedule a service time that suits your schedule: volunteercfs@cc-md.org.
The Villa Trail provides educational adventures in nature to kids at the Villa Maria School and St. Vincent's Villa Residential Treatment Center. The nature trail winds through the wooded areas of the campus on which the Villa Maria School of Dulaney Valley is located.
Your help is appreciated! We have an assortment of rakes and shovels, but if you can bring your own equipment, that's would be grand - pruners, weed whackers, and safety equipment.
Unless otherwise noted/arranged, volunteers are responsible for their own equipment and wearing appropriate safety gear: closed-toed shoes, protective eye-wear (if appropriate), etc. We can provide up to 20 pairs of gloves.
Volunteers under 18+ must be accompanied and supervised by a parent or guardian.
Villa Maria Schools provide educational and clinical services for children with significant emotional, behavioral, and learning challenges (see YouTube). St. Vincent’s Villa offers residential treatment and diagnostic facilities for children with significant emotional and behavioral challenges.
Kick it up a notch: Adopt a Trail!
Maybe you would like to make trail maintenance and forest shenanigans a regular part of your social groups' activities - e.g. your scout troop, civic organization, faith group, workplace, or D&D group. Consider adopting the trail or a segment and coming at least once every quarter to make sure it's up to spec.
