How to Sign-up

If you're not one of our already-screened and trained individual volunteers, there are a few ways to sign-up for Event Support volunteering.

  • As a group: a club, family, sports team, etc. Members must be 16+ years of age to work directly with children. A group leader or liaison should fill out this short form to register to sign up for activities (make sure to tick the box on the form that indicates that you are a group leader).
  • Once-off individual volunteers may use the same short form and sign up for an activity that does not directly involve children or other clients. Individuals under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
  • Individuals who want to work with children or clients and/or volunteer on an ongoing basis should contact Maria Busko, volunteercfs@cc-md.org to check about the appropriate application process.

Description of Events and Duties

Foster Family Appreciation Picnic

The Treatment Foster Care Program celebrates foster families each summer with a fun picnic, including activities for the children. Volunteers serve as child care assistants and help kids to engage arts & crafts as well as recreational activities. Short shifts before and after the event provide assistance with set up and clean up.

Summer Camp at St. Vincent's Villa

Camp takes place late June and mid August on site, weekday mornings for the most part. Volunteers are non-residential and will just come and help with activities for a few hours and go home.

Children from St. Vincent's Villa Residential Treatment Center participate in summer camp activities with our recreational therapist and volunteers. Activities include a range of sports, crafts, and hands-on lessons designed to further the treatment goals of children with severe emotional and behavioral disabilities, aged 5-13. Volunteers provide support by keeping children engaged and by assisting with set-up and tear-down. Do you have a particular skill or interesting profession? Coming as part of a work or school group? Maybe we can use your help in unique ways!

The camp takes place while Villa Maria School is on break - late June and mid August - although it is only attended by residents of St. Vincent's Villa (and not the general public or non-resident students of Villa Maria School). Activities take place Monday through Thursday mornings (about 9:30AM-12:30PM) and the children attend in groups, rotating between camp and other activities.

To cap off two weeks of summer camp in August, the children have an extended celebration (10AM-2PM) on the final day (Multicultural Day), involving crafts and foods.

Our Christmas activities use a separate sign up page. See below.

Season of Wonder : Christmas 2017

Deck the Halls: Each year, the community gets together to turn the gymnasium into a winter wonderland, and we need all the help we can get decorating Christmas trees, hanging garland, and positioning giant teddy bears. Together, we make the children's Christmas extra special. Please follow this link for a separate sign up page.

Gift wrapping: Saturday, December 17th at St. Vincent's Villa. Please follow this link for a separate sign up page.
