Conversation Circle Facilitator

We are seeking volunteers who can devote 3 hours a week for 3 - 6 months to support English learners in the classroom.

Meet newcomers to Canada, share your culture and learn about theirs while you help them enhance their speaking and listening skills.

No previous teaching experience in required. Training on facilitating conversations will be provided.

You may volunteer one-on-one or with a group but don’t worry, a teacher will be present during most volunteer shifts and you have access to resources such as sheets with talking points, materials being used at the local English school and the expertise of an English teacher.

This volunteer opportunity is in the City of Langley.


  • Assist teacher in classroom discussions by facilitating a group conversation circle or one-on-one interaction
  • Provide tutoring, coaching and support for LINC students
  • Assist in materials preparation and distribution

Requirements: Proficiency in English, Completion of information session, volunteer interview, successful vulnerable sector criminal record and training

Commitment: 3 – 4 hours weekly for short term (3 months) or long term (6 months) starting in October 2018, flexible shifts to choose from (TBD)
