Castro Valley In Person Teen Volunteer Activities - Volunteer Shelving

Volunteer at the Castro Valley Library to assist with the general upkeep and maintenance of the library.

Volunteers work with library staff to perform wide-ranging tasks to enhance existing library services. They may assist library staff with projects, help prepare for or clean up after library programs, and generally help with library upkeep. 

Volunteers can work up to a maximum of 2 hours per shift, twice a week, for a total of 10 hours per quarter (Fall, Winter, Spring, Summer)

Example of Duties

  • Organize and display collections
  • Clean library materials
  • General pick-up and straightening
  • Shelve picture books
  • Assist with library programs
  • Recover Books
  • Other duties as needed

Requirements

  • Be High School Age age or older
  • Have parent or guardian permission (if applicable)
  • Follow library guidelines for privacy and behavior
  • Show up for scheduled shifts

  • Friendly, approachable, flexible
  • Good communication skills
  • Reliable and timely
  • Able to work independently

Training for volunteers will occur on the volunteers 1st day of service
