Newark Teen Volunteer Opportunities - Homework Help Volunteer

Homework Help shifts are posted two weeks at a time. You will receive an e-mail response within 24-48 hours confirming if you were able to get the position. Due to the popularity of volunteering, not everyone who applies is selected. Please check your Spam folder for that response, if you don't see it in your Inbox.

You will be assisting K-8th grade students to understand their homework.  Our most common need is to help elementary students with math, but you should be prepared to help with any subject.  You will check in each day with our adult Homework Coordinator.  She can also help you if you have trouble explaining the assignment to the child you are helping.  You can do your own homework if no younger students need your help.
Some students need extra help with reading. For reading, you should plan to listen to them read aloud.  You can help them pronounce and define words they don't understand.

Age requirement:

High School student

* Note for parents: Please have your teen fill out the application with their contact information, as they will be the one volunteering.
