Virtual Volunteering - Transcript Editor (Virtual)

How You Will Make a Difference:
 Help make online Library content more accessible by using your English grammar, proofreading and formatting skills in the creation and editing of video transcriptions for SJPL videos on YouTube.

Responsibilities:
• Based on pre-recorded online videos on YouTube, download, edit or create transcripts of the footage
• Ensure exact and accurate synchronization of the footage with the transcript for clarity and timing. Correct spelling, verb use, and structure 
• Edit all work into a standard format that can be uploaded to YouTube to replace older editions
• Complete project by a pre-determined date

Training/Support Available: 
 • Instructions and support from staff about the library, programs, & services
• Ongoing support from the project manager

Qualifications:
 • Age 15 or older
• Demonstrate high degree of proficiency in English grammar and structure by completing a short assessment
• Experience at editing transcripts or proofreading a plus
• Ability to use email, online file storage sites, YouTube, and word processing software
• Must have own equipment

Commitment: 
 • Hours and length of projects vary and are flexible based on need and availability

Qualifications Required

  • Age Must be at least 15+
  • Oral and written communication skills in English Must be at least High
  • Skilled in basic internet, email, and Microsoft Office Must be Yes
  • Transcript Editor Assessment Must be Complete
  • Virtual Volunteer Training Completed Must be Yes
