Programmatic - Spanish Language Culture Club Facilitator

Share your knowledge, skills and awareness of the contributions and heritages of Spanish-speaking cultures with community youth.
How You Will Make a Difference
Teaching Spanish-language games, songs, stories, and dances will help to attract and meet the needs of our Spanish-speaking community and fill a vital role for children to grow and connect with their community. Help build a sense of identity and belonging by providing opportunities for cultural expression.
Volunteers are Needed To:
- Engage young people in activities that celebrate Spanish-speaking culture
- Work with library staff to create programs and acquire supplies
- Lead and facilitate teaching a class

Commitment/Schedule
- Once a week for at least a one-hour long class session, plus time for preparation, set up and clean up
- Class session to take place on a weekday after school, any time from 3:00 – 6:00 PM or on the weekend
- Minimum six-month commitment
Prospective Volunteers Should:
- Be age 18 or over
- Be bilingual in Spanish and English
- Possess the ability to take initiative and work independently
- Have strong oral communication skills
- Be dependable, punctual, and responsible
- Have experience working with children
- Have awareness of cultural events such as art, dance, music, etc. in appreciation of the contributions and heritages of Spanish-speaking cultures
Note
Volunteers must complete a fingerprint background check, at no cost to volunteer. Library staff will send instructions for fingerprinting.
