Library--Evergreen Branch

Virtual Volunteering - Tech Mentor

Assist library customers via Zoom with basic to advanced Computer Skills from creating an e-mail account, resume writing, saving, attaching files, filling out applications and searching the Internet.

Being a Tech Mentor may require some training in the library’s specific website, including using the library catalog, but we are expecting volunteers for this position to have strong basic computer software (such as the use of MS Office programs), and internet searching skills, would feel comfortable explaining to individuals or small groups how to set up a new email and to print from the library's computers.

Schedule: Preferably Saturdays and weekday afternoons, especially Friday afternoons after 1 pm. Volunteers are expected to commit to one hour a week or once every two weeks. We're willing to work with you to accommodate your schedules.

You need to be interested and able to learn more about the library’s electronic resources and how to download electronic resources from the library. Good interpersonal skills and patience are also necessary as you will likely be helping older people and/or those who have little technology know-how. Training will be provided for library-specific skills.

Applicants for Tech Mentor need to be 18 or older.  Knowledge of a second language is extremely useful. Fingerprint clearance required for volunteers 18 or over.
