Programmatic - Crafting Class Teacher

Are you an avid crafter or artist? Are you a whiz with a sewing needle? Can you paint to draw? Are you interested in teaching others your craft? San Jose Public Library is looking for enthusiastic teens and adults interested in hosting a class to teach your art to the community!

How You Will Make a Difference
Crafting Teachers play a pivotal role in bringing together the community over a shared love of crafting and making things. Help create a vibrant hobbyist community here at the Alum Rock Library!

Volunteers are needed to:
 - Have proficiency in an artistic or crafting skill
 - Be willing to teach/tutor eager learners in your skill
 - Work with a librarian to create a crafting project and acquire supplies
 - Lead and facilitate teaching a class

Commitment/Schedule
Willingness to meet with a librarian to select an appropriate project and assemble a list of needs and supplies. Willingness to instruct 1-3 monthly sessions.

Prospective volunteers should:
 - Be dependable, punctual, and responsible
 - Complete a fingerprint background check at no cost to you. Only required if you are 18 years or older.

  • Age Must be at least 15+
