Programmatic - Programming Assistant for Friday Family Game Zone

Volunteers Duties:

 Program set-up and clean-up, including pushing the cart to and from the program area, preparing the space, and setting up the Nintendo Switch.

  • Supervision of participants, especially younger participants, and ensuring that gaming equipment and board games are respected and used properly.
  • Counting how many participants attend each session and sharing this information with library staff for statistical purposes.
  • Communicating with library staff if additional program assistance is needed.
  • Helping participants and promoting a fun atmosphere.
  • Making sure everyone who wishes to play a video game gets a chance to do so.

Volunteer Qualifications:

 Must be able to commit 2 hours a week for at least 6 months.

  • Enthusiasm for board games and video games
  • Must be comfortable interacting with children and families.
  • Fingerprinting is required for all volunteers ages 18 and older.

Friday Schedule:

3:15 - 3:30 p.m. - set up.

3:30 - 5:00 p.m. - program

5:00 - 5:15 p.m. - clean up and put items away, thanking participants for coming. 

Benefits:

Providing an opportunity for children to interact independently and/or cooperatively and to practice other social skills.  Volunteers will have the opportunity to interact with children of a variety of ages, occasional teens, and their families. 

Qualifications Required

  • Age Must be at least 15+
  • Oral and written communication skills in English Must be at least Medium
  • Skilled in basic internet, email, and Microsoft Office Must be Yes
