General Volunteer Activities - Seed Library Support
Are you interested in supporting our local Seed Library? We need help sorting, stuffing, and labeling seed envelopes, as well as folding seed envelopes for use in the seed library. Some seed varieties require counting very small seeds. Shifts for this opportunity are flexible as long as a librarian is able to prepare a project for you.
Requirements:
- Age 13+ (volunteer candidates 18+ must be fingerprinted as part of their intake process)
- Generally/occasional available: Sundays, 1pm-3:30pm, Mondays 2pm - 6pm, Tuesdays 3pm-7pm, OR Thursdays 3pm-6pm
- Patience to count and work with small inventory items such as tomato seeds
- Ability to work well solo
- Can pick up simple paper folding techniques quickly with instruction
- Reliable/able to firmly commit to a day/time to volunteer
- Open and consistent communicator
- Reliable transportation to volunteer in-person at the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Library
