Virtual Volunteering - Teen Book Reviewer

Position Overview: Teen Book Reviewers play a pivotal role in encouraging other teens to read simply by writing book reviews on our online library catalog. These volunteers can gain service hours from home. Each book you review counts as one hour of volunteering.

Responsibilities:

· Write a book review following the below guidelines · Send your review to librarian’s email address. The librarian will ensure it meets the guidelines and get back to you · Once you hear from the librarian, post your review on our library catalog, sjpl.bibliocommons.com o Give it an Age rating and a Star rating o Make sure your review is made public so that it can be seen · Send the librarian a screenshot of your review, and BOOM! You’ve just earned an hour of volunteer service

Guidelines:

For your book review to count towards volunteer service time, it must be one paragraph long. Be sure to: · Include a short summary of the book · Write about what you liked or disliked about the book · Avoid spoilers When posting your review online, you can also give it an Age rating and a Star rating. Make sure your review is made public so that it can be seen.

Training/Support Available:

· Support from staff on review guidelines and how to post reviews

Qualifications:

· Age 13-18

Commitment:

You can write up to 10 reviews for a maximum of 10 hours. Schedule is dependent on the availability of the volunteer.
