Programmatic - Book Club Planner

Are you an avid reader looking for a rewarding way to connect with your community? San José Public Library is looking for enthusiastic readers interested in helping us set up a book club.

How You Will Make a Difference

Book Club Planners play a pivotal role in preparing quality content for our community of readers.  We need help planning and preparing content for our upcoming book club.

Volunteers are needed to:

  • Understand how to search the SJPL catalog and eBooks for titles that are widely available for people to access from home 
  • Select appropriate book titles for people to read together
  • Research popular titles & availability.
  • Create discussion guides & find additional resources.

Commitment/Schedule

Willingness to volunteer at least once a week for 4 consecutive weeks. Schedule is dependent on the availability of the volunteer.

Prospective volunteers should:

  • Be dependable, punctual, and responsible
  • Complete a fingerprint background check, at no cost to you. Only required if you are 18 years or older

Qualifications Required

  • Age Must be at least 15+
  • Online Orientation for On-site Volunteers Completed Must be Yes
  • Online Orientation for Virtual Volunteers Completed Must be Yes
  • Oral and written communication skills in English Must be at least Medium
