Programmatic - Teen Volunteer Program Lead/Facilitator

This opportunity is for teens and teen volunteer groups that have already submitted a Program Proposal, and an interested librarian from this location has reached out in order to support and coordinate planning and implementing an approved program.

Have an idea for a great program you'd like to host at the library? Passionate about a certain topic and activity, and would like to share it with the community? Consider developing and leading your own program with the library! We're always looking for programs that complement the library's collections, services, and goals. Please note that while we love to help our community explore their interests, we cannot move forward with all submitted program proposals.

Teen Volunteer Program Lead/Facilitators work with a coordinating librarian to bring volunteer-led programming to the community. Teen Volunteer Program Lead/Facilitators will have already been in contact with a librarian about their program before filling in this application. Teen Volunteer Program Lead/Facilitators create curriculum and plans to demonstrate their ability to plan and comfort level with the subject matter, prepare and/or communicate supply needs, and lead programs.

Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Have submitted a program proposal via the SJPL website and received instruction from a coordinating librarian to fill in this application.
  • Age 15-17 required to be a teen program lead. Volunteers ages 13-14 may support a volunteer program but cannot be the lead. Adult volunteers ages 18+ should submit an application for Adult Program Facilitator.
    • Teen Volunteer Led Programs must also have a non-library staff Adult Program Facilitator to serve as the 'adult in the room' for programs
  • Detailed lesson plans/curriculum for each individual session of your intended program, including time estimations for each activity and a method to tie your program to the library's collection
