Programmatic - Citizenship Mock Interview Facilitator (Adult Only)
Help people to become US citizens! Citizenship classes are offered once a week and we want to provide tools and knowledge needed to pass the citizenship exam with Citizenship Mock Interviews.
- Facilitate one-hour mock interviews at the library
Encourage students in their efforts and be a positive role model
Review students citizenship mock interview and provide appropriate feedback
Be punctual and professional in class
Keep attendance records
Attend training by library staff and maintain ongoing communication with Citizenship Class Coordinator.

Continued staff guidance and support throughout the entire series of classes.
Skills & Qualifications:
Age 18 or older
Ability to speak, write and read English with proficiency
- Bilingual in Spanish or Vietnamese preferred
- U.S. Citizen, through birth or naturalization
Strong ambition to serve the community
Knowledge of citizenship resources preferred
Prior tutoring or teaching experience preferred
Good person-to-person skills: dependable, prompt, patient and flexible, respectful, able to maintain confidentiality
A willingness to be open to other cultures and ways of thinking;
- Basic computer skills
Fingerprint clearance required (SJPL will covers the cost)
Meet regularly with staff to assess the program (at least once a week)
Commitment of one-hour weekly citizenship mock interview for a period of 12 months, unless otherwise negotiated in advance.
Days available to volunteer: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday
