Programmatic - Homework Club Coach

How You Will Make a Difference

Help local students in grades K-8 reach academic success and foster their ability to succeed in school.  Watch their confidence build as they master their homework at the Library.

Typical day/task

  • Coach students in a range of subjects - reading, writing, math, social studies, and science
  • Coach students in groups of one to four
  • Assist with enrichment activities with those students who have completed their homework
  • Assist with administrative tasks such as record keeping


  • Encourages lifelong learning to community youth
  • Connect with your community and provide a desired service
  • Share or gain experience with program management skills
  • Develop coaching skills
  • Learn ways to coach, promote learning and refine teaching skills


  • Complete Homework Club Volunteer Training
  • Experience or interest working with youth
  • Strong oral communication skills a must
  • Dependable, patient, and flexible
  • Second language ability in Spanish a plus, but not required
  • Ability to coach students in grades K-8 in Mathematics is highly desirable
  • Fingerprint clearance required for volunteers age 18 and over


  • Homework Club coaches need to commit to a Wednesday, in person schedule at King Library from 4-6 pm starting Thursday, October 6th through Thursday, Dec. 15th.

  • Age Must be at least 15+
  • Library Homework Club Training Completed Must be Yes
  • Oral and written communication skills in English Must be at least High
