Volunteers Duties:

 Creating or editing PowerPoint presentations on how to use the apps.

• Program set-up and clean-up.
• Supervision of participants, especially younger participants, and ensuring that iPads and Apple Pencils are respected and used properly.
• Counting how many participants attend each session and sharing this information with library staff for statistical purposes.
• Communicating with library staff if additional program assistance is needed.
• Helping participants and promoting a fun atmosphere.
• Making sure everyone who wishes to play a video game gets a chance to do so.

Volunteer Qualifications:

 Must be able to commit 2 hours a week for at least 6 months.

• Be comfortable with some of the apps listed above or all of them. 
• Have experience or comfort with working with people of varying ages, backgrounds, and skill levels.
• Edit or review course materials prior to class meeting.
• Have strong oral communication skills.
• Complete a fingerprint background check, at no cost to you. Only required if you are 18 years or older.  The background check is performed free, by the City of San Jose.

Potential Thursday Schedule: (can be flexible, depending upon Community Room availability)

4:45 - 5:15 p.m. - program planning for future weeks

5:15 - 5:30 p.m. - set up.

5:30 - 6:30 p.m. - program

6:30 - 6:45 p.m. - clean up and put items away, thanking participants for coming. 

Benefits:

 Providing an opportunity to teach children, tweens, and teens how to use apps on an iPad, which will expose them to new technical skills.   Volunteers will have the opportunity to interact with children, teens, and tweens in an educational setting.
