Virtual Volunteering - Virtual Teen Authors Corner

Do you love to write and want to spend time with fellow writers? Would you like to help plan and teach a writing class with new friends to your peers? Everyone here wants to get better at writing and to share what they've created. Help us help more teens like you and get some leadership and teaching experience while earning community service hours!

How You Will Make a Difference

You will be encouraging and inspiring more teens to get back into or pursue creative writing and expressing themselves through words.

Volunteers are needed to:

  • Prepare short lessons plans to teach a particular writing skill
  • Create brief Google Slide presentations for the lesson
  • Lead monthly meetings of the Teen Virtual Authors Corner
  • Meeting monthly with the teaching team to discuss and come up with the monthly lesson and make the presentation

Commitment/Schedule

Willingness to volunteer at least twice a month for a 9-month duration. The commitment is at least one school year.

Prospective volunteers should:

  • Be comfortable with teaching an giving critique to an audience of your peers (ages 11-18)
  • Possess the ability to take initiative and work with a small group or independently
  • Be dependable, punctual, and responsible

Qualifications Required

  • Age Must be at least 15+
