Library Services - SJPL Works Resume Instructor

Position Overview:  Provide resume drop-in critiques that enables customers to increase their ability to find work.  Students may be of diverse skill levels.

Responsibilities:

Train customers/students on how to create or edit a resume: * Format * Action Statements * Vocabulary * Tailoring

Training/Support

Available: 

* A general library orientation will be provided, including use of the library catalog, eResources, and databases * Basic training in computer troubleshooting; specific monitoring/sign-up procedures and the San José Public Library’s Internet Access and Use Policy * Ongoing collaboration with staff

Qualifications:

* Age 21 or older, will consider 18+ * Knowledge and experience in developing a curriculum and instructing resume tips * Proficient in Microsoft Word,  * Ability to maintain collaborative relationships with staff and students * Demonstrated customer service skills * Excellent oral communication skills; bilingual a plus but not required * Ability to work independently * Strong organizational skills * Fingerprint clearance required

 

Commitment: 

* Minimum of a six month commitment, though classes may be presented in a 6-8 week series * Commitment to plan, implement, and instruct a class on a twice monthly basis
