The volunteer Birthday Party Storyteller creates a fun experience for our youngest DCL customers (ranging in age from 2-7 years old) celebrating their big day! These trained volunteers perform Storytime for our private DCL birthday party events on Saturday and Sunday afternoons throughout the year.

The birthday party storytime consists of reading one or two short children's stories along with helping to lead songs, fingerplays and other activities. This opportunity includes preparation time before each party, and assisting the party coordinator with the storytime segment setup and cleanup. Volunteers will be able to select which birthday parties they would like to do the Storytime and at which locations.

Qualifications

• Phone and in-person screening
• Background check

Training:

• One hour Storytime training
• Shadow an experienced storyteller
