Are you caring, patient, social and enjoy engaging with older adults? The Book Delivery by Request volunteer is a community-facing role that works alongside staff to provide library services at local senior living facilities.

These volunteers will:

• Create connections and ongoing relationships with residents of senior facilities.
• Discuss and make suggestions related to older adults reading preferences; provide materials request support. 
• Assist library staff with delivery of materials, merchandising, resident check outs/returns, tracking attendance and set up/break down.

This position requires:

• Social and caring volunteers who are age 21+.
• Regular shift attendance of approximately 3 hours monthly on the same day/time each month. 
• Reliable transportation; ability to drive to/from the library and the senior living facility.

A Volunteer Services Coordinator will be in touch to schedule a brief discussion and new volunteer orientation. Training and support will be provided by a Customer Experience Librarian.

Current shift openings: 

• Second Tuesday of each month, 1:30pm-3:00pm

Cancellation Policy: Please let us know right away if you need to cancel due to an emergency or illness. Due to the difficulty of securing last-minute volunteer help, Douglas County Libraries normally requests a minimum of 4 days notice if you are unable to attend.
