Outreach Events - Book Delivery by Request Volunteer
Are you caring, patient, social and enjoy engaging with older adults? The Book Delivery by Request volunteer is a community-facing role that works alongside staff to provide library services at local senior living facilities.
These volunteers will:
- Create connections and ongoing relationships with residents of senior facilities.
- Discuss and make suggestions related to older adults reading preferences; provide materials request support.
- Assist library staff with delivery of materials, merchandising, resident check outs/returns, tracking attendance and set up/break down.
This position requires:
- Social and caring volunteers who are age 21+.
- Regular shift attendance of approximately 3 hours monthly on the same day/time each month.
- Reliable transportation; ability to drive to/from the library and the senior living facility.
A Volunteer Services Coordinator will be in touch to schedule a brief discussion and new volunteer orientation. Training and support will be provided by a Customer Experience Librarian.
Current shift openings:
- Second Thursday of each month, 1:30pm-3:30pm
First time volunteering for Douglas County Libraries? Please email Sonia Bates to schedule a required new volunteer orientation before your first shift.
- Cancellation Policy: Please let us know right away if you need to cancel due to an emergency or illness. Due to the difficulty of securing last-minute volunteer help, Douglas County Libraries normally requests a minimum of 4 days notice if you are unable to attend.
