Library Events & Programs - Bark for Books Helper

Reading aloud can be RUFF for kids.

Bark for Books provides an opportunity for children to read to a service dog to build confidence in their skills. Volunteers will help check in participants, monitor the schedule, and may even recruit children in the Family area if the dog has any free time.

No advance training is necessary.

Thank you for committing to help with Bark for Books! We depend on our volunteers to help make this program a success, so we are very grateful for your time.

If this is your first time volunteering for our branch, please e-mail Sonia Bates at sbates@dclibraries.org to schedule a time for a brief orientation.

Cancellation Policy: Please let us know right away if you need to cancel due to an emergency or illness. Due to the difficulty of securing last-minute volunteer help, Douglas County Libraries normally requests a minimum of 4 days notice if you are unable to attend.

If you need to cancel, please do so at least 4 days in advance to allow us time to find another volunteer to fill this important spot.

Qualifications Required
