Court Ordered

Thank you for your interest in completing your court-ordered community service with Douglas County Libraries. Please read this entire description before applying.

Court Ordered Volunteers help with various task such as:    

- Cleaning: Storytime Toys, Computers, Launchpads etc.

- Shelving

- Processing donations for our Second Chapter Bookstore

- Polishing and/or checking AV items

- Office tasks 

- Projects/crafts needed for events or programs

Our various branches have different shift availability. Some locations may have limited hours to serve. Shift availability on the previous page is current but may change at any time.  Once your application is reviewed and accepted, you will be able to register for shifts. 

Court-Ordered volunteers must be 16 years of age or older.

Service agreements must be completed before a court-ordered volunteer begins their community service. In addition, court-ordered volunteers must complete an orientation session prior to their first shift at each branch. 

Douglas County Libraries does not work with court-ordered volunteers who have a felony charge listed on their court paperwork.

We also do not accept the following offenses: 

• Arson
• Assault
• Battery
• Child abuse
• Conspiracy
• Criminal mischief
• Disorderly conduct
• False reporting
• Forgery
• Fraud
• Harassment
• Menacing
• Obstruction of justice
• Property damage
• Resisting arrest
• Sex assault
• Terroristic Threats
• Theft
• Trespassing
• Unlawful conduct
• Vandalism
• Weapons charges
• Other charges deemed to potentially put our customers or staff at risk

A Volunteer Services Coordinator will review your application and be in touch to discuss next steps within 2 business days.
