Archives and Local History - Oral History Interviewer
Oral History Interviewer Volunteers schedule and conduct oral history interviews to capture unique perspectives and stories of individuals with strong ties to Douglas County. Additionally, Archives and Local History (ALH) conducts oral history interviews with American Military Veterans for the Veterans History Project. This is an ongoing collection by the Library of Congress.
The volunteer position involves managing recruitment activities, guiding quality interviews, and serving as a liaison between the Archives & Local History's oral history program and the public.
Qualifications include:
- Punctuality for interviews
- Excellent listening and oral communication skills
- Networking skills a plus
- Adherence to detailed instructions
Training and support include:
- Standards of conducting oral history interviews
- Guidance determining who to interview
- Use of library spaces for interview appointments
- Operation of recording hardware
- Collections handling
Schedule is flexible and negotiable.
