Library Events & Programs - Interested in Storytime Helper / Saturdays

We are seeking enthusiastic volunteers who love working with young children and can commit to a weekly schedule!  This shift is 10-11:30am every Saturday morning.

Volunteers will be assisting our Staff Storyteller by singing songs alongside them, helping handle props, doing crowd control, and helping set up/clean up. You will also assist with other tasks after Storytime such as straightening up the playscape area and shelving picture books.

After you register here, you will be contacted to observe a Storytime. Observing a Storytime will help make sure this is the right fit for you. Then if this is a fit for you, we will continue with orientation and training.   We would be wanting to meet the potential volunteer beforehand as well.  A trial period might be implemented.

Our attendees love seeing consistent volunteers and getting to know them! Therefore, this position requires a minimum 4-month commitment. If selected for this program, volunteers will be trained by DCL staff.

If this is your first time volunteering with Douglas County Libraries, please contact the Lone Tree Volunteer Services Coordinator, Sonia Bates at for a quick Orientation.

If you need to cancel, please do so at least 4 days in advance to allow us time to find another volunteer to fill this important spot.
