Current Opportunities - Social Support in the beautiful Yarra Valley! | Yarra Glen

Social Support in the beautiful Yarra Valley! | Yarra Glen

During these challenging times we need volunteers more than ever to support isolated people in our community to feel socially connected again. If you’re a ‘people person’ and would like to make a difference to someone’s life, we would love to hear from you!

Robert* is a keen woodworker, making planter boxes and birdhouses. He loves gardening and would like to share his time with someone with similar interests and life experiences! You will be positive, friendly and enjoy going out for a coffee. Good communication skills are a must, as Robert* has slight hearing impairment. He is available weekday afternoons and would love a visit once a week or fortnight.

The volunteer will provide companionship, and support Robert* to achieve his social goals. Valid driver’s license and car necessary. Practical communication skills and confidence to work independently are a must. Induction, ongoing supervision and opportunities for professional development provided.

Please note that during COVID-19 this role may commence over the phone, which will enable you to establish rapport and connection with Robert and enable him to stay connected to the community.

*Participant's name has been altered to maintain his privacy.
