Animal Care - Rehoming Advisor Volunteer

Are you great with people and passionate about pets?  Are you looking for an opportunity to build up your CV while helping both pets and people?  We are looking for a volunteer with good organisational skills and a friendly approach to greet and assist visitors to our Rehoming and Advice Unit.  You will support the rehoming of pets and offer basic advice about pet care and Blue Cross services.

What you will be doing:

  • Greeting visitors and explaining the rehoming procedure, providing advice about Blue Cross services and answering queries

  • Ensuring paperwork and leaflets are stocked up and available for visitors.

  • Logging details into computer

  • Answering the telephone

  • Providing leaflets on various pet care issues and Blue Cross services

  • Maintain a queuing system when the centre is busy


What we are looking for:

  • Experience of owning or caring for pets

  • The ability to work in a team or alone

  • A willingness and ability to learn and follow instructions quickly and accurately

  • Good face to face communication skills

  • Confident and approachable manner

  • Previous experience of dealing with the public

  • Computer literate

Time commitment: Flexible but a regular commitment will be required.

You must be aged 18 years and above for this role.
