Animal Care - Home Direct Pet Assessor


Are you looking for a way to use your skills to help pets and to gain experience? Are you reliable, well organised and a good communicator? Your local Blue Cross Rehoming and Advice Unit is looking for volunteers to help assess pets for our Home Direct scheme which helps pets directly into new homes without coming into the kennels or cattery.


What you will be doing:

  • Visiting dogs, cats and small pets in their own homes to determine their suitability for the Home Direct scheme

  • Completing a petfolio or Blue Cross assessment for the pet to establish the type of new home that would suit them

  • Taking photographs and/or videos of the pet to promote them on the website

  • Uploading this information onto the Blue Cross computer system or relaying back to Home Direct team

What we are looking for:

  • Proven knowledge and experience of animal behaviour and welfare

  • Recognised qualification in training or behaviour and/or membership of a relevant professional body e.g. APDT or IMDT

  • Regular commitment and reliability

  • Ability to work in a team or alone

  • Willingness to learn and follow Blue Cross procedures 


Time commitment: Flexible but requires a regular commitment.
