Make a meaningful difference in the lives our patients!
We are preparing to launch a new volunteer program in July and August. Join us as we expand our hospital-based volunteer supports. We are creating a team of compassionate and caring volunteers who can be called upon to respond as required to support patients with more complex needs.
While still providing social, emotional and recreational support this team of volunteers will be ready to adapt to the needs of patients who may have cognitive impairment. These patients may feel confused, anxious, disorientated, isolated. Your presence and compassionate support can provide comfort and reassurance. This can make such a difference to their health and wellbeing.
Your role may involve -
offering a calm and friendly presence, providing companionship, social and recreational support, engaging with the patient's interests through conversation, reading, music, activities or simply being there to provide reassurance.
