Current Volunteer Opportunities - Volunteer Patient Transport Driver
Barwon Health are expanding our Volunteer Driver Program to enable us to support more patients in our community to attend clinical appointments. This program supports consumers in the Greater Geelong region who would otherwise be unable to attend and is something that has a real impact on our consumers well being.
Barwon Health Clinicians and Patient Transport Coordinators assess and refer patients to this limited service to ensure they are suited to be transported by Volunteers. In addition our Volunteer Drivers undergo a full onboarding and training process to ensure everything runs smoothly. This program operates from McKellar Centre, North Geelong Monday to Friday and Volunteer Drivers assist using Barwon Health fleet vehicles.
Start and finish times may vary depending on patient appointment times and pick up locations each day. We try to ensure those needing our assistance have appointment times between 9 and 4 to ensure our Volunteer days are not too long. There may also be the option to work a split shift.
Infection prevention protocols are an important part of keeping our consumers and our Volunteer Drivers safe when in a vehicle. There is a requirement to follow infection prevention protocols periodically throughout a shift, wear a surgical mask and have Covid (minimum 3 shots) and flu vaccinations.
