Current Volunteer Opportunities

We are looking for several new volunteers to join our Concierge team at University Hospital Geelong to support Barwon Health and our Consumers through a period of building and development.

Concierge Volunteers complete four hour shifts on weekdays (8-12 or 12-4).  While we may be able to offer a range of shifts / days our URGENT requirements are - Monday AM & PM, Wednesday PM and Thursday AM & PM

Our Concierge Volunteers provide a first point of contact for the several hundred people who pass through the main entrance each day. It is a busy space with the opportunity to be immensely helpful to consumers, their families and visitors. 

It is an exciting time to join Barwon Health with a number of developments happening.  The building works mean changed access conditions and departments / clinics moving.  Our Concierge Volunteers provide a vital service to Barwon Health and our consumers helping things to flow smoothly.  This important role is needed now more than ever! 

Your role will be to offer support and guidance through these changes - directing people to where they need to be.  Your welcome and reassurance will ensure our consumers feel supported.  In addition Concierge Volunteers undertake tasks such as restocking surgical masks at hospital entrances, receiving deliveries such as flowers and supporting the allied health equipment loans program.

Our current volunteers tell us the things they enjoy about this role are meeting new people and knowing that that they can help.  If you enjoy a fast-paced environment and being able to make a difference to somebody’s day this can be a very rewarding role. 

We offer extensive training and support.  We have an in-person Volunteer Mandatory Training Day scheduled for Monday 24 March.  Alternatively we will also be offering the opportunity to complete mandatory training through eLearning modules with a number of group review sessions available.  Once training and compliance are completed you will be supported through buddy shifts which allow you to observe and learn at your pace.  If you are interested we would love to hear from you!
