Volunteer Opportunity: Life Stories Program
Are you a compassionate listener with strong communication and editing skills? We’re currently seeking dedicated volunteers to join our Life Stories Program—a meaningful initiative supporting palliative care patients to create a written legacy document.

 About the Program:
The Life Stories Program offers palliative care patients the chance to  create a personal biography. Trained volunteers conduct interviews that are recorded, transcribed, and lovingly edited into a life story document. These documents are a powerful source of comfort, meaning, and connection for both patients and their families.

We’re looking for volunteers with

  • Empathy and compassionate listening skills
  • The ability to gently and respectfully “draw people out”
  • Editing & Communication Skills
    • Strong editing and writing ability
    • Solid grasp of grammar and story structure
    • Commitment to maintaining the participant’s authentic voice
    • Sensitivity to ethical and emotional aspects of personal storytelling
  • Technical Skills
    • Comfortable recording interviews
    • Able to use AI transcription tools
    • Skilled in editing and formatting documents, including adding photos
  • Additional Qualities
    • Willingness to complete palliative care and life stories volunteer training
    • Openness to personal reflection and growth in a supportive volunteer team environment
