Current Volunteer Opportunities

We would love to hear from interested volunteers with basic woodworking skills to support our residents on site at the Mackellar Centre in North Geelong or Alan David Lodge, Grovedale. 

If you have the ability to make wooden toys, planter boxes or other simple products – we have many residents who’d love to get involved and put their own skills to use.  

The woodwork program at McKellar runs on Thursday mornings. We have not commenced a program at Alan David Lodge so are open to interested applicants availability.  

If you have skills you would like to share our residents and Lifestyle Staff will appreciate your company and assistance!  Even if you feel your woodworking skills are at a basic level Volunteers can assist with setting up / packing up program equipment and assisting residents during the activity to ensure they get the best out of it.  A friendly outlook, a willingness to have a go and sharing an interest are the key things required. 

Company and a chat can really brighten our residents day.  We want it to be fun for everyone! Our current volunteers feel a great sense of pride when they see the residents working on sanding, varnishing and painting their handmade products.

All Barwon Health Volunteers undergo an on-boarding / training program and in addition you will be paired with a staff member or experienced volunteer for buddy shifts while you become comfortable with the role.  You will get to meet new people and contribute to the well being of our residents in a supported way.

Note - Aged Care Volunteers are required to have 3 COVID and current Influenza immunisations and may need to complete the NDIS screening check.  We can assist you with coordinating this if needed.
