Dignity Therapy Volunteer Opportunity 
Are you a compassionate listener with strong communication and editing skills? We are currently seeking volunteers for our Dignity Therapy program—a meaningful initiative that helps individuals with a life limiting illness create a written legacy for their loved ones.

What is Dignity Therapy?
Dignity Therapy is a structured, life review process in which trained volunteers guide individuals through reflective conversations, helping them shape their memories, values, and messages into a lasting document. This legacy can be an important source of comfort and connection for both the participant and their family.

We're looking for volunteers who have:

  • Critical People Skills
    • Deep empathy and sensitivity
    • The ability to gently and respectfully “draw people out”
    • Comfort in the presence of illness, suffering, and end-of-life discussions
  • Editing & Communication Skills
    • Strong editing and writing abilities
    • Solid grasp of grammar and structure
    • Ability to preserve the participant’s voice while enhancing clarity and readability
    • Sensitivity to ethical considerations
  • Technical Skills
    • Comfortable with recording interviews
    • Ability to use AI transcription tools
    • Proficient in editing and formatting documents in Microsoft Word, including adding photos
  • Additional Qualities
    • Willingness to complete initial Dignity Therapy training
    • Commitment to ongoing monthly support and education sessions
    • Openness to personal reflection and growth as a volunteer
