Treatment - Treatment Intern/Practicum
One of The Salvation Army's Midtown Service and Treatment Center’s goals is a to provide a strong learning environment for interns and practicum students interested in professions relating to drug and alcohol addiction. Interns and practicum students will receive a variety of experiences which may include:
- Observation or assistance with group education and group counseling
- Observation or assistance with client intake and assessments, treatment plans, and individual counseling sessions
- Learning how to take vitals and conduct drug and alcohol testing
- Gaining experience in documentation of services
- Providing community services assistance to clients
- Other projects and duties related to addiction services
Interns and practicum students must be age 18 or older. Safe From Harm training is required within 30 days and will be provided by The Salvation Army. Other training will be provided as needed.
This internship or practicum is ideal for college students studying health care and medicine, social work, counseling, psychology, and other related fields of study who want to explore the field of drug and alcohol treatment.
